Practical Tips On How To Survive Being A Bridesmaid
Being a bridesmaid is both challenging and rewarding. She could have chosen other girls out there but she chose you; enough to make you feel rewarded of being one of her closest friends. The bridesmaid's role is never easy, thus she'll most likely present bridesmaids gifts to the rest of you, to give thanks and show appreciation.
Now, to be a great bridesmaid and to survive the challenges this role has given you, here are some tips for you to follow...
- Don't be late! If there is an important appointment related to the wedding, do the best you can to be on time. There is a lot of moments where your presence is highly needed, such as during her engagement party, dress fittings, the bridal shower, and others that she needs you to be there. While she might have her wedding planner to do the job, but it is understandable that she will love having all her bridesmaids to support her. Also, the task will easily be finished if there are more than two hands that fixing it: arranging flowers in vases; putting place card holders on the tables; arranging wedding favors; sticking stamps on the wedding invitations, etc. Your presence can also help her relax and confident during pre-wedding moments, where stress and exhaustion is inevitable.
- Familiarize her relatives! These are the people you have to spend some time with, so it is important to get yourself familiarized about them. Know them! Aim the point where you can call these people by their first names.
- Use your initiative! Be sensitive and use your initiative to assist the bride whatever she feels like doing for her wedding. Or, you can ask her directly if there's something you can do to help her. This is one way to let her feel that you are just there, and she's right of picking you as one of her bridesmaids.
- Don't be mad about your dress! This is one of the most annoying complaints from the bridesmaids. Her wedding day is hopefully the only day you will wear a dress that your friend has chosen for you, and definitely one of her most important days. Therefore, it is so unnecessary to come out look like mad at her wedding day. The cost of the dress may also another issue on your part, but you can be honest about it and talk to her immediately before getting too late.
