HOW HAS YOUR WEDDING PLANS CHANGED DUE TO THE CURRENT ECONOMIC CONDITIONS?

A big THANK YOU to all of you who’ve responded so enthusiastically to our Survey. We were thrilled to hear from so many of you!

So here’s what you told us…

A majority of you (57%) are having your wedding within the next 2 months…so we see that you’re very busy planning your wedding as we speak, especially when a good majority of you (90%) are doing the planning by yourself with the help of family & friends.

It looks like there’s a major spread in the budget of your weddings. 25% of you are planning your wedding on a budget of less than $10,000, while 25% of you are planning a wedding on a budget of over $25,001. The remaining 50% are split in the middle with 38% of you in the range of $10,001 to $20,000.

While staying within your budget, most of you (55%) are finding a special location (event venue) for your reception. 25% are having the reception at a hotel, and 10% will be at a country club.

As for your wedding party, most of you (48%) will have 5-8 people; with the next most popular (37%) being 9 or more people! So it seems to us you are truly making your wedding an inclusive family celebration! It’s wonderful to see that you’ll have a big bash to celebrate your marriage.

Which leads us to the number of guests you are inviting…a majority of you…37% will have more than 200 guests.

As for changing your budget, most of you have not changed it by very much…68% of you said you’ve lowered your budget by $1,000 or less. In other words, you are making small cuts that may not have a big impact on your wedding.

When asked about specific changes to your wedding, most of you are not making much change to the music, location, reception style, or your dress. Rather, you are more likely to adjust the cost of your invitations, and wedding favors, bridal accessories and gifts for the bridal party (with a combined 46% of you saying you would make changes in these 3 areas.) Most of you advised planning early…with more lead time, you can be more relaxed and certainly would add to your anticipation of that day. The extra time will ensure that you wouldn’t be pressured into spending too much money in the wrong places just to meet the deadline, and you would have looked into all the details of the day and know that you can enjoy your special day without reservations.
