Tip: Adorning A Heart Shaped Ring Bearer Pillow
A heart shaped ring bearer pillow can be elegant in its own simplicity, but if you want to embellish it to add some visual interest, we can show you how. All you’ll need are some ribbon, seed beads, a light pencil, and a needle.
You’ll need three different colors of ribbon. You can choose them based on your wedding color theme, but we’ll use pink and magenta for simplicity. We’ll add green for a leaf pattern.
- Use a light pencil to draw a heart shaped pattern on the top of the heart shaped ring bearer pillow.
- Complete the pattern by locating two areas of the heart which will have floral ribbon.
- Thread the pink ribbon in through the needle (For gauzy fabric, a size 22 chenille needle will do).
- Thread the pink ribbon on the ring bearer pillow, taking the time twist the ribbon and secure it with seed beads at random intervals.
- When the heart shape is complete, thread the purple ribbon.
- Create a cluster of spider web rose patterns in two locations along the heart with the purple ribbon.
- Create a stem stitch with the green ribbon to create a leaf pattern along both floral clusters.
- In the center of the heart, attach pink ribbon to serve as the ring tie.
Tip: Guidelines For Ring Bearer Attire
Depending on whether your wedding is a formal affair in a church setting or a more casual event at the beach, you’ll want to plan the ring bearer attire accordingly. Regardless of whether you opt for a theme where your wedding party is dressed to the nines or you decide on a more laid back wardrobe, adorable ring bearer attire is always a crowd pleaser. Wedding etiquette has certain recommendations when it comes to dressing up the younger members of your wedding party, but ultimately, the choice is yours.
The Formal Wedding – For a formal wedding, the ring bearer attire is simple. The ring bearer’s outfit should be just the same as the groom’s.
The Semi-Formal Wedding – A semi-formal wedding also calls for the ring bearer attire to be the same as the grooms, but there is more leeway here. If the ring bearer is in a tuxedo, his cummerbund can match the flower girl’s dress. It’s also acceptable to have a ring bearer dress up the same as the groomsmen.
Casual Wedding – A casual wedding affair allows you a wide variety of choices when choosing the ring bearer attire. Options include dressing a younger ring bearer in an informal Eton suit for a garden wedding or a Hawaiian shirt and shorts for a beach wedding.
Tip: How To Buy And Select Shoes For A Ring Bearer
Many parents make the mistake of unknowingly selecting ill-fitting, uncomfortable shoes for their children. During a wedding, shoes for the ring bearer should be just as comfortable as shoes a young boy would wear on any day. Here are some tips on selecting the right shoes for kids based on guidelines by Noah A. Blumofe, D.P.M.
- If you’re purchasing shoes for a ring bearer, try to shop no more than three months before the wedding. Kid's feet grow quickly and should be measured about every 3 months.
- When determining the fit of the shoe, measure about a thumb width from the tip of the longest toe to the end of the shoe.
- To find out if the ring bearer shoe is wide enough, put your index finger between the child’s foot and the shoe at the instep. If your finger doesn’t fit, you need to look for a wider shoe.
- For maximum comfort, a shoe should have flexibility where the ball of the foot occurs on the shoe.
- Always fit the ring bearer in his shoes standing up – not sitting down.
- A well-made shoe should fit comfortably from the start and not need breaking in.
Tip: How To Pick Your Ring Bearer
Are you looking for the perfect ring bearer to choose to be a part of your wedding party? Many couples choose nephews, children of close friends, or their own children from previous relationships to be part of their wedding party. In general, the ring bearer tends to be a boy, but some wedding couples may choose a girl to be the ring bearer.
The best ring bearers tend to be children who are at least old enough to follow directions. Make sure you know the temperament of the child you want to be in the wedding. Some children will be bashful and the sight of multiple guests treating them as the center of attention can be frightening. It’s perfectly acceptable to have more than one ring bearer in a larger wedding party. You can even have two ring bearers walk down the aisle together. Not only will they feel more at ease, it’s an adorable sight.
Tip: How To Prepare A Child To Be A Ring Bearer
A ring bearer in the wedding procession is an important job and one that draws a lot of attention from the guests of the wedding ceremony. Being a part of the wedding procession can be a bit scary for a young child. So your best bet is to prepare him for his walk down the aisle. Here are some ring bearer tips on how to get your ring bearer ready for his big role.
- Get him a ring bearer book. Reading a story about what his role will be in the wedding will help ease your child’s fears as he’ll know what to expect on the big day.
- Designate a buddy during the wedding day to help him get ready. A groomsmen who can act as a big brother can go a long way to easing the fears of a young child if his parents can’t be around.
- Make sure he attends the wedding rehearsal. A few trial runs down the aisle at the wedding rehearsal will help your child feel prepared.
- Stay in sight during the wedding ceremony. Though you may not be able to be around right before your child’s march down the aisle, try to plant yourself somewhere along the sidelines so that he can see a reassuring face.
Tip: Perfect Little Gifts For Your Ring Bearer
The sight of a ring bearer making his way down the aisle, with pillow in hand is a picture worthy moment for any wedding. Show one of the youngest members of your wedding party just how much you appreciate his participation by giving him one of these ring bearer gifts.
Ring Bearer Book – Written by Kathy Thomas and Kathleen Buckley, The Ring Bearer is an adorable illustrated story that shows every ring bearer what his role in the wedding will be like.
Train Bank – Just about every little boy has a fascination with trains. Indulge that of your ring bearer’s by giving him a pewter or silver plated train bank so he can start saving his coins.
Silver Yo-Yo – Get your ring bearer a delightful toy that’s also a wedding appropriate gift. A silver yo-yo is a fun gift for a young boy that you can personalize with his initials.
Sweet Treats – Have chocolates or cookies in fun shapes like cars, bears, or a football shape. Package it up in a fun wedding favor container as a wedding day treat for the ring bearer.
Tip: Selecting The Right Style of Ring Bearer Shoes
No ring bearer’s outfit is complete without ring bearer shoes. If you’re wondering what to pick, select a pair based on the formality of the ring bearer’s outfit. A fail-safe option for virtually any wedding attire is the oxford shoe.
A ring bearer wearing a tuxedo will be dressed appropriately in patent leather oxfords. Details like decorative side buckles are perfectly acceptable. In general, although the loafer is a dress-up shoe, avoid them for any of the dressier ring bearer ensembles.
For more casual dress, or a light colored suit, most white oxfords, that are patent or not, will do. For the ring bearer at a beach wedding, light colored sandals or even going sans shoes can work just fine. If you’re shopping for toddlers and younger babes, brands that carry ring bearer shoes include Darling, Josmo, and Pretty Please. For older boys, try Stacy Adams, Pretty Please, or Kenneth Cole.
Tip: The Dog Ring Bearer Pillow
These days, many families choose to include their beloved pooches as part of their wedding party. Dogs are often raised as furry members of the family and a well-behaved hound can often make the perfect ring bearer. This is especially true if you are having an outdoor wedding. But don’t let your canine walk down the aisle empty pawed. Get him a dog ring bearer pillow so that he has the proper accessory for your wedding ceremony.
A dog ring bearer pillow looks very similar to a version that might be carried by a young child. You can find dog ring bearer pillows made of satin and white lace, complete with ribbon to attach the ring onto the pillow. The main difference is that rather than holding the ring bearer pillow, your pooch can have it attached to his collar and wear it behind his neck. The result is an adorable accessory that will delight guests at the wedding ceremony.
Tip: The Sweet Scent Of A Potpourri Ring Bearer Pillow
For a twist on the basic white ring bearer pillow, consider making one that is a potpourri version of the classic. It’s simple enough to make and attractive. The fragrant scent this ring bearer pillow makes is a nice touch as well.
